GENERAL FAQ
What is the CIAN Conference?
The C.I.A.N. Conference is the culmination of 5 years of prayers and plans of the leadership of the Christian Indie Author Network. It is the first National level writers and readers conference that focuses solely on the Independent or Self-published Christian Author. All sessions and panels are led by proven Independent experts who have a heart for helping other Self-publishing Authors grow in their craft in an atmosphere that helps strengthen their relationship with the Father of Creativity.
How does your schedule work?
Our schedule is pretty easy to figure out. We have ten minutes between sessions to give you time to make it to your next session and panel and we leave after dinner open to allow time to network with other Indies or just enjoy the facility where we are and the area around us.
I have a food allergy do you provide special food?
No, because of catering restraints we cannot provide any special foods or diets. If you have a medical issue or allergy that makes it so that you have to provide your own meals please email us at christianindieauthornetwork.info@gmail.com and we will provide you with a discount on registration.
What is the age limit?
We at C.I.A.N take great pride in the fact that any Christian Author can join the network. Our youngest published author to date is eight years old. Having said that however, Indie publishing is a business and those that pay to attend are looking to learn how to improve their craft and learn proven techniques to grow their sales. Because of that we are asking that all session attendees be no younger than 18 years old. Also we ask that minor attendee’s be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times. The C.I.A.N. conference leadership and workers reserve the right to remove any attendee who is disruptive from any session or the conference as a whole. If an attendee is removed there will be no refund given.
What if I have to cancel my registration?
Because of the limited size of our conference and to keep the price this low. There are no refunds; all sales are final. You are more than welcome to find a replacement for your ticket; if you do so, please let us know who your replacement is no later than June 30, 2015.
Is a shuttle provided from the airport?
The hotel (Radisson Quad City Plaza, 111 East Second Street, Davenport, IA 52801) provides daily shuttle service to and from the nearest airport, Quad City International Airport, from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Are there fees associated with book signings, autographs and/or picture taking?
There are no fees for taking pictures getting books signed or Author autographs. We ask that anyone taking pictures let the author know that you want to take their picture, it's polite etiquette to ask before snapping a image of anyone
Do any of the events require special wardrobe, such as a gown or an after-five dress?
We are planning an afternoon of cosplay as part of the book fair where we encourage attendees to dress up as their favorite character from an indie author’s book (preferably one of the authors at the convention, of course), and we have an awards ceremony and banquet scheduled for which you might want to dress up a bit. However, we aren’t imposing any special dress codes on attendees. We will be recording all sessions, workshops and panels as well as broadcasting live the awards banquet and Sunday morning worship service. So you might want to dress accordingly.
Is lodging provided?
Lodging is the responsibility of the attendee. Radisson Quad City Plaza (111 East Second Street, Davenport, IA 52801) is the conference venue and is offering attendees a discounted room fee of $129.00 per night. The weekend of the conference is also the weekend for the Bix Beiderbecke Memorial Society Jazz Festival. While this is great news for Attending Authors to introduce their books to new readers, it will also mean that rooms will fill fast. We suggest that you reserve your room as soon as possible.
